This is a list of things that annoy me. This list is not exhaustive. If it annoys me enough, it will eventually make the list. I keep this up-to-date.

People Who Swipe Apps To Close Them
The most common answer I get when asking someone why they do this is “I’m trying to save battery life”. But that’s not true, you are doing the exact opposite it. It’s actually draining your battery MORE to swipe these away as they now have to reload and reinitialize all the memory with the CPU every time you open the app, whereas not closing it just keeps it in memory with little to no CPU usage. You should only close an app if is not responding, otherwise, that’s annoying.
Mobile websites that don’t have the same function as desktop websites.
Ever been to a website on your PC and then later visit it on a mobile device? There is a chance that you won’t find the information you are looking for on your mobile device. Often times websites refuse to give you the same information because they don’t want to upset you by having you scroll. That’s annoying.
Ignoring User Preferences
Ever used an app or a website that refused to conform to your user preferences? If I perfer a dark theme, the app should use one. Most importantly it should NEVER change my cursor. That’s annoying.
Videos Without Controls
Have you ever watched a video online and wanted to pause it and couldn’t? How about you were watching a video and come back to it and can’t skip to a certain point? Or even worse, you want to adjust the volume, but they don’t have a slider? That’s annoying.
Filming in Vertical Video
VVS – Vertical Video Syndrome. Can you come up with even three reasons to shoot a video vertically? Is the subject really tall? Why? A lot of times, videos that are filmed for TV appear on YouTube Shorts, TikTok, Instagram Reels and remove half of the video. That’s annoying.
Software That Can’t Be Run Offline
Ever purchase a product that you enjoyed and come back to years down the road and it no longer works? Did it have to connect to an online service to function? It should always be able to run without “phoning home”. That’s annoying.
OAuth
No, I do not want to sign in using my Google Account. I REALLY don’t want to sign in with my Facebook account. If I get banned or lose access to whatever that account is, I also lose all my other accounts. That’s not secure. That’s annoying.
Changing Phone UI
My car that was built in 2004 still has the media controls in the same spot. My phone changes several times in a year. The play button on my phone should be at the same pixel. Always. But it moves depending on how many notifications I have. And that makes driving unsafe. I shouldn’t have to look at my phone to press a button. That’s annoying.
Non mechanical controls in a car
I know exactly where to adjust the volume in my car. I know exactly where to make it cold or hot. I know how to turn the defrost and/off without looking. But cars today have them often on a touch screen. Which forces me to look where I am taping. That’s unsafe. That’s annoying.
Forced Cloud Saving
Saving things on the cloud can be convenient, except that you don’t have any control over the data. If the service gets shut down, you will lose access to the files. Services such as OneNote originally allowed me to save to my hard drive and then it forced the cloud on me. With that comes its forced organization and I can no longer keep files how I want. Luckily, Microsoft turned back on that decision and allowed me to save .one files again. As the saying goes – “i do not want to save to onedrive. i want to save to the documents folder. on my computer. that i have. in my house.” That’s annoying.
Having an * Without Context
Ever read a book and you see an * or other markings and nowhere in sight the context of it? I see these all the time. Now I just ignore it since I’ve spent too much time looking for the context of them. That’s annoying.
Irrelevant Notfications
By default, I only have the following apps with notifications enabled on my phone: Phone, iMessage, Gmail, Calendar, Facebook Messenger, and What’s App. That’s it. Why on earth would I have notifications on a game? All it does is give you ads. I used to have Facebook and Instagram notifications on, but they started to give ads as well such as “You may like this”. If an app does that, I immediately disable it from giving me notifications. That’s annoying.
